This blog is about technical documentation, content strategy, and other long-tail things that occur to me.
In retail, the long tail refers hard-to-find things that sell in relatively small numbers. Not laundry soap. Unless it’s artisanal laundry soap. Which is a thing you can buy.
In content strategy, long-tail keywords are more specific, but have low search volume. Much like most of the questions technical docs attempt to answer.
My guidance on content strategy is based on industry best practices and my application of content marketing techniques to technical documentation. If I recommend a technique or practice, I do so because I’ve seen it measurably improve tech doc performance.
I couldn’t find any killer keywords covering the intersection of tech docs, content strategy, and SEO. (Those last two things are nearly synonymous to me.) If you find any, please share.
I’m not a good photographer, but I have cute kids and a cute dog. So, you’ll see them a lot here to add highly relevant illustrations to the points I make.
